We will be having a Halloween Parade at the school on Wednesday, October 31 at 8:15 a.m.  Students may wear their Halloween costume to school that day OVER THEIR uniforms.  After the parade students are expected to be in their uniform for the rest of the day.

Costumes are not to include weapons, blood, Creepy Clowns, or attire inappropriate for small children (nothing sexy or exceptionally gruesome).

Parents are of course welcome to join us for the parade on the blacktop near the basketball area.

A teacher will be in the library during the parade with the students who do not participate in the Halloween activities.  Do not keep students away from school on this day.  Classroom instruction will take place in all classes after the parade and your child will miss important learning if they are absent.

The Rosemary community has identified six important habits of character that are an important part of all teaching and learning on our campus.  As an Expeditionary Learning School, we believe that character education is as important as academics.  We believe that teaching students to be effective learners, ethical people, and contributors to a better world is at the center of our work as a school.

Students in every classroom will spend time studying ways to develop these six habits of character. In January our focus will be on Courage.

Every Friday morning this school year we will gather our whole community for a 20 minute Crew Meeting in the area near our playground from 8:05-8:25 a.m.  The Community Crew Meeting will be similar to the morning launch that you may remember from years past.  Students and staff will line up on the stars at the first morning bell.  The focus of the meeting will be on developing our seven habits of Character:  Compassion, Integrity, Reflexion, Courage, Leadership, and Excellence.  Parents are welcome to attend and participate in all the activities.  Coffee with the principal will follow the Community Crew meeting this week.  Join us!

Beginning on Monday, August 27, we will begin serving breakfast at the beginning of the school day (after 8:05 a.m.) in every classroom at Rosemary.   Each classroom will create their own routine for serving the simple breakfast.  Kindergarten classrooms will appreciate parent volunteer support during the breakfast service.  Since the breakfast will be served during the school day we will be working to establish routines that are efficient so we don't lose instructional time.   We will no longer serve breakfast in the cafeteria before school.
