Beltran is sworn in

The Campbell USD Governing Board appointed Pablo A. Beltran to fill a vacancy that occurred when Board Member Juliet Tiffany-Morales resigned on March 10, 2016. He was sworn in on March 31st, and will hold the provisional appointment until the November 2016 election when voters will elect a trustee to fill a four-year term.

“Public schools have a broad purpose which starts with teaching our children the cognitive, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills required for future success,” Beltran said. “I look forward to collaborating with the board and the community to support that long-term vision.”

The Campbell Union School District Board of Trustees has approved the installation of two or three portable classrooms for next school year to house 5th grade classes on our campus for the first time in about 20 years.  The classrooms will be located near the current fourth grade rooms.  Parents of this year's 4th graders have been asked to state their preference for where they would like their child to attend 5th grade.

Congratulations to the members of the Rosemary community who have campaigned for this change for many years.  Board President Danielle Cohen shared with parents at a recent visit to our school, "This happened because of your involvement and consistent pushing."

A group of over 40 Rosemary community members (adults and children) gathered in the Rosemary neighborhood Saturday March 19, 2016 for a Community Beautification Day.

We are grateful to the City of San Jose – District 1 Office of Chappie Jones for their support and for providing the cleaning supplies/tools needed for this event. A special acknowledgment also goes out to Jeff Cristina, former Campbell mayor, for donating his time and for facilitating the waste management disposal for all of the litter collected. Thank you to our Campus Collaborative members ( Mr. Bob Carlson) from the Rotary Club and (Mr. Jimmy Zien) from the Home Church for volunteering their time and for providing water and snacks for all participants! (and ongoing support!)

The Community Beautification Day resulted from a “Community Needs Assessment” that was established and identified in the Building School Success parent leadership class that took place at the Rosemary Family Learning Center from January through mid March of this school year. This project is also part of a Community Needs Assessment previously identified during the Rosemary School Campus Collaborative from last school year (2014-2015).

Saturday, March 12, 65 Rosemary parents and students attended the Family Bridge to College Day at Foothill College. The purpose of this family field trip was to enable parents to get a tour of the Foothill College campus and learn about the classes, programs and resources that the college offers. The ultimate goal was to encourage parents to educate themselves, and become better supporters of their children’s education and of their community.  Everyone had a great time.
